Wedding invitation Wording
How to word your wedding invitations?

You've planned your big day down to a tee! You've even managed to order the perfect wedding invites to match but the question is “What to put on them?”

There are few things to consider when it comes to wording your invites:

  1. Your wedding Theme

Probably the most important aspect not just for the wording but everything else associated with your wedding. From your dress to the location and the decorations around you, a great wedding day always has a great theme.

Don't get me wrong, it doesn't have to have all the bells and whistles or an over exagerated theme. It may just be a simple wedding idea with a consistent and strong theme.

Consider your theme when creating the wording for your invite. Match the tone and language with your wedding theme.

What type of wedding is it?

  • Traditional

  • Contemporary

  • Gothic

  • Roman

  • Romantic

In essence carry over your wedding theme into your wording.

  1. Remember it's your day!

Its your wedding day and your the stars of the show. Its also more then likely that you hand picked every part of the wedding so its just the same for the wording on your invites.

Add your own touch to the wording, make it personal but essentially put whatever YOU want on the invites. The invites are a personal invitation from yourself so make it reflective and word it how you want to. Write down what you'd like to say to your guests rather then being too informal or typical.

Make them laugh, make them cry, make them smile or even frown. Just raise an emotion and wedding will be remembered just by the invites themselves.

  1. Fonts

Fonts, types or Typefaces are like people. Each one has its own character and portrays a message in itself.

There are millions of fonts available so picking the right one is essential in carrying not just

your theme but the overall design.

Fonts are a speciality subject and we have great experience in suggesting and matching one to your card. Ideally you should leave this area to the wedding card designer but of course you should have your say. Pick one that you like but one that also suits the mood.

  1. Extra Text

Your wedding invitation wording doesn't just have to be the invite itself. Many of our cards have extra wording inside such as a poem or an ode. Think what else you'd like to say inside your invitation. Maybe its something you write yourself or something that has sentimental attachment to both the bride and groom.

Overall wording for an invite can be a struggle but the basis should come from the bride & grooms heart. The wedding invitation designer can help you to refine and make your wording into an outstanding message.
